Supporting the struggle against inequalities
South Africa is around 30 times the size of Switzerland, and has a population of approximately 45 million. The apartheid system ended more than 13 years ago. Despite this, its legacy still weighs heavily on the new South Africa.
Land, work and wealth are distributed unequally, and many South Africans suffer poverty, violence and crime. Almost a quarter of the population is HIV positive. This presents one of the biggest challenges for South African society.
