Campaigning - together we are strong

The Lenten Campaign is the most important part of our public relations work. Together with other partner organisations, we also address social issues and development policy throughout the year. These campaigns are intended to encourage people to contemplate, reflect, share and act in a spirit of fairness.

Working to ensure that the right to food does not remain a pious hope

There are words that confront us brutally with the unjust distribution of resources. For example, Jean Ziegler's statement: 'Every child who dies of hunger in today's world has been murdered'. Such injustice cries out to heaven. It is a scandal that should stir the conscience of us Christians especially.
After the focus on human rights in the last two years, the right to food will be the main focus from 2008 to 2010.

0.7% - Together against poverty

Fastenopfer is working with 60 other Swiss aid agencies, women's and youth organisations, environmental groups, churches and trade unions to support the petition '0.7% - Together against Poverty'.
We want Switzerland, as one of the world's richest countries, to make greater efforts to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals. All the people of this world should be able to live in dignity.
In the petition, we call on Parliament and the Federal Council to make a stronger commitment towards halving the number of people in extreme poverty, and the number of starving people, by 2015. The government's development aid should be gradually increased to 0.7% of Gross National Income by 2015.
The Website 'Together against poverty' gives you all the information about the Swiss campaign.

With postcards against exploitation

Unlimited overtime, low wages, inadequate protection against harmful substances, no employment contracts - exploitation of workers to manufacture computers. Fastenopfer and Bread for All have launched the campaign 'High Tech – No Rights?' to call for an end to these abuses in the computer industry.
